Dune Awakening shares new screenshots and confirms the ever-present threat of the Sardaukar

Just in case you weren’t fully convinced that the world of Dune: Awakening is an extraordinarily dangerous place, what with all of the desert heat and the PvP and the sand worms and such, the survival MMO’s latest newsletter is warning players of yet another threat to be aware of: the Emperor’s Sardaukar.

“As they serve the emperor himself, you’ll spot them in the sky surveying and scanning the land below on his orders. Traveling at night will keep the sun off your back, but you’ll still want to keep an eye on their patrols,” Funcom warns. “If found, they’ll release an anti-gravity field that holds you in place and keeps you from running before sending down the Sardaukar troops onto your position.”

The newsletter naturally showcases some concept art and 3-D model work of the Sardaukar ship, along with a pair of new screenshots that show off imperial testing stations that promise unique blueprints for those who fight their way through and the Shield Wall location that features a harsh climate and subsequently valuable rewards. The rest of the newsletter otherwise recounts the game’s monetization, pre-order goodies, and livestreamed gameplay details.
