Bonus question: So you are now obligated to make an enthusiastic fan page on Geocities. What are you covering using what amounts to web tech from 1999?
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna.bsky.social, blog): I’ll be in Lord of the Rings Online, of course. I have some few remaining things to do on my house, and then I’m going to level. Amazing. Leveling in 2025.
Bonus: I’d make an excruciatingly detailed Farscape fansite with all my favorite quotes. Absolutely nobody would ever visit it, and absolutely no one should.
Bonus bonus: Did you guys know that Neocities.org is a thing? Go turn these into reality!
Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes.bsky.social, blog): It’s probably going to be more Monster Hunter Wilds for me as I continue to learn new-to-me weapons and try to chase certain materials. Beyond that, I’m not really sure what other games I’ll be playing. Which means it’s likely time to flip through the ol’ backlog.
Bonus: So I’m going to actually draw from some of my own real-life history a bit and put together a Geocities site that’s all about in-character lore about my MechWarrior OC and the BattleTech mythos in general. Or I’ll be housing my own sprite comic. Yes, those are both things I did on the internet of old back in the day.
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Got some things to do in Final Fantasy XIV and Warframe but I’ve also been on a Mega Man kick lately, so I think I’ll be leaning into that a little. We’ll call that the optimistic plan for the weekend.
You might think that the obvious answer of a Transformers fansite is what I would go for, but joke’s on you, I actually did that and I’d rather go for a hypothetical for what I’d do now. So expect a shrine to characters from Granblue Fantasy with fanfic and mistranslations and wild speculation, along with some grainy JPGs. We’re going old-school.
Sam Kash (@samkash@mastodon.social): This weekend is going mobile. I started to play something called Eighth Era and it’s really, really grindy. Apparently some PvP opens up at level 9 and I’m about level 6 now so I’m hoping to make that edge this weekend.
Bonus: I’ll make a fansite for pickles. I really love pickles. Oh, or maybe honey. I can’t get enough honey. I try to keep small records of what variety I like. So far mountain clover remains the top though orange blossom is always strong as well.
Tyler Edwards (blog): I was getting a little burned out on the grind of online games, so I loaded up Age of Empires 2 again. I’m trying to finish all the Dynasties of India campaigns finally.
Bonus: I can’t imagine it’d be much different from the WordPress blog I’m already running. If we want to go maximum cringe, I could focus more on my fiction and worldbuilding. Maybe start giving out lessons on my conlang. Sha peldêr æv’sæmin!
