Elder Scrolls Online fans digest the MMO’s upcoming subclassing and content pass pricing

Elder Scrolls Online’s big giant reveal of what it’s doing next in 2025 with content cadence, monetization, and content has seen the dust of its arrival settle, so now it’s time for us to dive in to The Discourseâ„¢ as fans of the MMORPG come to grips with what ZeniMax Online Studios has planned.

As one would no doubt expect, there’s been a fair bit of anger at the changes, particularly from players who see this as getting less content for more money upfront. This in turn has caused some people to try to provide perspective and napkin math about content price changes, arguing that the costs and content remains about the same – at least if you’re the kind of player who bought chapters as they came out, which incidentally was also the conclusion some of our own readers and writers came to.

Many others are trying to wrap their minds around the next update’s subclassing system, with discussions about how it will impact some of the MMO’s meta as well as some meme-powered presumptions about how the system will actually play out.

Then, of course, there’s the still unanswered question of what new benefits ESO Plus subscribers are getting in light of the content pass price structure, which has already led to a bit of confusion and frustration, particularly since our own time at the press preview didn’t generate any clarity from ZOS. We’ll be sure to report on that once news is actually available. Still, there is at least one player who has admitted to some hype, which isn’t always a bad thing in our view.
