Worlds Adrift refugees can finally come home today as Bossa Games’ Lost Skies officially enters early access. It’s not an MMORPG as Worlds Adrift was, but it’s also not a gankbox: It’s a cozy up-to-five-person survival sandbox “where you’ll traverse beautiful floating islands using wingsuits, gliders, grappling hooks, and your own custom-built airships.”

“As you explore Lost Skies, you’ll discover forgotten technology and clues left behind by ancient civilizations that will help you uncover the mystery of what happened to this fractured world,” Bossa says. “Customize and upgrade your very own skyship, the heart and soul of your journey and a home among the clouds. Design it as a comfortable, welcoming haven for you and your crew, or transform it into a powerful, heavily armed battleship capable of withstanding epic aerial combat with colossal sky creatures. Master a physics-driven grappling hook, harness advanced technology to manipulate gravity, and shape your path through the open skies full of endless possibilities.”

The early access version launching this morning allows players to visit the Outskirts biome and more than 20 islands built by Boss as well as other players through the Island Creator tool on Steam. Yesterday, the team dropped a roadmap with no timelines, telling players it aims to continue optimizing, expanding with new islands, refining Outskirts, adding a new map table, adding more combat and boss challenges, inserting “crossable windfalls,” the Midlands region and biome, and new puzzle types.

The game is currently on sale for $22.49 on Steam.
