Pantheon Rise of the Fallen opens a fresh start server, rolls back other servers over a duping bug

It’s a weird, woolly, and odd set of headlines coming out of Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen early access, and there’s really no way we can kind of set it all up, so let’s just dive right in to things as they stand right now.

First off: Visionary Realms has decided that now is the time to open a fresh start server after entering early access about four months ago. The new PvE server known as Veil of Azeris has caused a bit of confusion among players who wonder why an incomplete MMORPG is hitting a reset button now, though some suggest that the game’s economy is a partial factor – a problem that the devs did acknowledge last week.

The new server came online along with the MMO’s latest patch that also brought some new attack animations, several fixes, another round of class tweaks, and changes to coin drop amounts for various NPCs.

It’s possible those coin drop adjustments were the catalyst for what devs called a “major dupe” that was discovered shortly after the patch went live. About a couple of hours later, the devs confirmed that there would be a partial server rollback of coin amounts for servers other than the fresh start server. Additionally, the studio has confirmed that players who took part in duping have been suspended pending further investigation.

In the broader picture of Pantheon, there appears to continue to be some general pleased discussion over PvP servers (a few players even engaged in some smack talking that dominated the PvP chat channel this morning) and a player-run PvP community Discord server is being worked on for those who want that sort of thing.

Otherwise player numbers appear to be holding steady at roughly 2,000 peak concurrency, though recent Steam reviews are entering “mixed” over the MMO’s incomplete nature, lack of a map, a “toxic” community one player suggested was full of “USA 40+ oldmen,” and unfriendliness to solo players; other reviews continue to cheer on the MMO’s old-school vibes.
