Sea of Thieves is introducing shark hunts, mega stashes, and treasure-hoarding wild boars

While the next season of Sea of Thieves won’t be live until May 22nd, there are still plenty of things going on within the pirating sandbox in the form of a wide assortment of new and returning events and the upcoming addition of furious wild boars. And no, we’re not going to make any “hog wild” references. We’re above such things; we’d rather say that players will go whole hog instead. Because we’re a classy joint.

The various additions were outlined by Rare in its latest video news digest, which leads off with the addition of wild boars to the game on Thursday, April 24th. These pugnacious piggies can be found around the game world at boar wallows, guarding various treasures and other goodies within their muddy hovel. Naturally, getting the goods won’t be quite so easy, as the boars will eagerly ram their tusky faces into interloping pirates.

Another upcoming addition will be megalodon hunts engaged by the Hunter’s Call faction that tasks crews with chasing down and killing a rampaging shark monster and getting a bunch of goodies in the process. The mission type is accompanied by a newly released tune that’s on offer on multiple platforms.

Before then, a mega stashes event is on from now until April 24th, with massive treasure hauls potentially hiding inside of skeleton forts and the opportunity to get a massive mustache for characters to sport. Get it? Mega stache? Ha hee hoo.

In addition to this current event, the Festival of Fishing event is slated to return between May 2nd and 12th. This year will focus on helping the Hunter’s Call gather the various ingredients needed for a massive feast. Offered rewards include a fancy new fishing rod and boosts to gold and reputation earnings.
