WRUP: David Lynch had an orbital cannon named Tiny Benjamin edition

I am assured these are plums.

Lynch on Taylor Swift:

I think that’s delightful. I think it’s such a joy to listen to a musician whose last name is “Swift.” Her music does nothing for me, it doesn’t spark any sort of excitement when I hear it, but the idea of her music being fast gives me a deep and abiding sense of joy. Imagine being born with such an energetic name. I would love to do a movie about that, about a woman born with the name Swift and another born with the name Lethargic, and the ways in which both of them feel the rot in a small suburban town where they are trapped.

Lynch on eating gummi bears:

What a wonderful world. What a special, magical world. This bear is flavored like a pineapple, and it is tiny and soft. Real bears are large and soft and they are flavored like bear, and you can’t eat them. I have tried. At one point I wanted to do a move with Laura Dern where she was queen of the bears but she had to act in a star war. I was happy for her, truly I was, she is a magnificent talent.

Lynch on taking your shoes off on an airplane:

The way that human beings find new ways to be inhuman to themselves is truly appalling and I hope to avoid it as much as I can. Oh, to spare myself the knowledge of this.

Lynch on What Are You Playing:

Garbage. Utter, absolute garbage.

Lynch on Final Fantasy Tactics Advance:

It’s such a sadness, you know, that people played the games on the Game Boy Advance? What a truly worthless set of decisions. You think you’ve experienced a good game and you have only experienced its excavated corpse, dancing like a puppet – it’s macabre! Not in a good way. Not in a happy way. You have taken beauty and turned it to salt. Was there another one? I think there was. Neither of these are good. If you think they are you are wrong and you should learn better.

Bonus question: What’s the most inconvenient appliance breakdown that you’ve experienced in recent memory?

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna.bsky.social, blog): I’ll be in Lord of the Rings Online again this weekend. I’ve been going back and forth between my OG Minstrel and my Hunter. It’ll probably be the Hunter this round because I’m sitting in Gundabad and ready to go. I also keep feeling pulled to City of Heroes, and I may not give in this weekend, but it’s probably going to happen eventually.

We just had to replace our furnace back when it was still super cold. That sucked.

Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes.bsky.social, blog): I’m probably going to be hopping around a few games this weekend. I rediscovered tanking enjoyment in Final Fantasy XIV, I might continue to give the re-released Defiance a swing, and I’m thinking about coming back to Star Wars: The Old Republic, though there’s a mighty big “if” attached to that one.

Bonus: I had a rice cooker die mid-rice cooking, which is something I didn’t realize until I peeked in because there wasn’t any sort of timer ding happening after some time.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Aside from my usual antics in FFXIV and Warframe I will be finishing up a couple of single-player projects and also a review title. Or I might just try to go for sleepmaxing. We’ll see.

My computer suddenly went on the fritz this week on Tuesday with no warning, which necessitated a couple of days without it that didn’t have a firm end date. Not great!

Sam Kash (@samkash@mastodon.social): I’m ripping and ready to play some Havenhold! I haven’t actually been looking forward to a game like this in a while. I don’t know why either. I think coming off some pain points from Myth of Empires has me excited for something that looks to have more structure. Tonight’s the night to find out.

Bonus: My oven is on the fritz and has been for the past few months. Busting the morning of birthday cakes bake off was a real problem! The weirdest thing is that it’s only broken when the temps fall close to freezing. As long as it’s warm out, there’s no problems.

Tyler Edwards (blog): I’ve been hoping to give the Defiance revival a try, but so far I’m wiping on the log-in boss. I’m also trying out some new decks in Eternal, and I should probably get around to leveling up my season pass in New World.
