Imagine you’re one of the developers of MMOARPG Corepunk. You wake up one morning, nibble your favorite breakfast food or sip your favorite breakfast beverage, and fire up the Discord to check on current events in the community only to find out that a duping exploit has washed across the game and upended the economy. That’s effectively the scenario that the game has effectively had to deal with today.
“When we woke up today, the first thing we saw was a bunch of player reports indicating that an ancient coin duplication bug had been discovered on the marketplace. It’s an unpleasant situation. We opened the database and indeed see all these broken transactions,” the Discord announcement notes. It then discusses what Artificial Core’s next steps will be, beginning with a temporary marketplace shutdown that plans to be lifted later today, along with removal of duped coins, while those who sold items for duped coins and items currently in marketplace circulation won’t be affected; no mention of account punishment is noted.
“We understand how crucial a fair economy is for an enjoyable game, and we’ll do our utmost to counteract any threats like this and mitigate their consequences,” the post concludes. “We’re gaining experience, improving our tools, and growing alongside the game in moments like these. This is truly invaluable experience for us as a team.”
