Cozy van camping game Outbound enters alpha testing following last year’s successful Kickstarter

That overwhelming feeling to hop into a decked-out camper van and cruise into nature for a slice of serenity is hard to ignore but often practically out of reach. Unless, of course, you avail yourself of a virtual means! Happily, Outbound, the multiplayer survival crafting game on four wheels, just went into closed alpha testing this week.

The studio said that this round will focus on testing mechanics and stability with a “limited number of players.” The alpha test features the first biome of “lush forests, open plains, wide wheat fields, mountains, and more,” four-player coop, scavenging, crafting, building, and dynamic weather and day/night cycles.

Outbound continues to work toward a 2026 release with additional features and systems such as the second biome, the dog companion, character customization, fishing, more vehicles, and — of course — bee keeping. It raised nearly $300,000 last year on Kickstarter.
