PvPvE extraction RPG Velev sunsetted after just six days in early access

We support speedrunning, but we’re not sure the “multiplayer game sunset any%” speedrun category needs to be a thing. But if it was, then it would appear that Velev, the debut PvPvE extraction RPG from solo developer Chaf, would win the crown as the game has been already shut down mere days after its April 9th early access release.

News of the impending shutdown was shared by Chaf last week, with the formerly box priced title going free-to-play temporarily until a shutdown date would be decided. A day later, the servers were taken offline. That means Velev early access lasted a total of six days.

The final announcement could be read as Chaf being unable to pay to keep the game online. “We intended to keep the game free to play, but our game was shut down and we had to close the servers,” the developer writes. “We’re truly sorry for the sudden announcement and for not being able to handle things more responsibly until the end.” Whatever happened behind the scenes, it’s a rather abrupt and ignominious end to the game.
