A new season has officially launched today in Overwatch 2, bringing with it a bunch of additional features for fans of the hero shooter that Blizzard has been hyping up in the weeks leading up to the new update.

Leading off the new season is the arrival of Stadium mode with its all-new mechanics and playstyle. Players can mark the release of this new mode by taking part in a Stadium Initiation event that awards several unique character skins for completing various challenges related to the game mode.

The other big ticket item is the arrival of the new DPS hero Freja, who brings a crossbow to a gun fight along with abilities that allow her to dash from danger or blow enemies upward in a gust of wind to disrupt foes and line up a powerful shot.

Finally of note, competitive play brings on the ability to select banned heroes before matches that Blizzard contends will bring new strategy to teams before a single shot gets fired. Matches will have four total bans available, with two ban picks per team, all of which are chosen simultaneously.

Other additions in Season 16 include a new mythic skin for Juno, a heavy metal and magical girl anime theme to the shooter’s season pass, and some more magical girl skins on offer as part of some Dokiwatch cosmetic bundles for those who want to spend money on that kind of thing.
