Original flavor Path of Exile is plotting a May full of wacky league template mash-ups

Does it seem as of the Legacy of Phrecia event in Path of Exile only just arrived? Well, it’s already ending – today, in fact. The stop-gap Phrecia content was meant to tide players over until the big update in June as the studio is plugging away at Path of Exile 2’s early access. So what’s a classic Path of Exile fan to do in the meantime? Apparently, you’ll be taking advantage of an assortment of free private league templates, basically alternative rulesets.

“Next week we’ll add 15 Private League templates for PC that you’ll be able to create for free with up to 20,000 players in each event,” Grinding Gear Games explains. “We are planning to have these templates available for a month, approximately until the end of May. A private league template means you will not be able to add your own modifiers like you would normally be able to. We’ve tried to ensure there is an event for every type of player! All of these events are based on Settlers league.”

Players will want to take a peek at the list – lists, really, as the templates are broken down for the basic no-frills no-danger player, the thrillseeker player, and the “surprise me” player. For example, the “Idols + Kalandra” template mixes Lake of Kalandra mechanics in every zone and replaces the Atlas passive tree with the idols system. GGG is promising more info next week – include a hard date.
