It’s not every day we get to post about a brand-new MMORPG that’s actually proud to call itself an MMORPG, but Eldramoor is doing just that. Oh, and did we mention that it’s a virtual reality MMO with distinct cartoony Orbus-esque vibes?
“Already in development for more than a year, Eldramoor will feature immersive gameplay with exploration, crafting, combat and mini-games – combining the powerful sense of community from classic MMOs with modern VR gameplay and features,” studio Resolute Games says. It’s promising a full massively multiplayer world with multiple biomes, social content, class-swapping, character customization, and difficulty modes. Here’s the pitch:
“In Eldramoor: Haven in the Mist, an inclusive fantasy world where newcomers and VR MMO enthusiasts gather together as a single community, players will venture across varied environments ranging from lush mushroom forests and harsh deserts to rolling hills and snow-capped mountains. There is plenty to explore as they uncover the land’s troubled history and work to save the island from an ancient mystical force that threatens to destroy everything in its path. Adventurers can journey through a narrative-driven world or glide and climb around looking for hidden treasures. Combat players can pit their skills against strange and fearsome foes. For those who’d rather stay in town, crafters can show off their creativity and business acumen in a lively, player-driven market, while social players can participate in community activities, relax over a game of darts at the local tavern, or hang out with friends and fish off the docks.”
That Orbus vibe isn’t imaginary, by the way; studio boss Lynn Souza says that VR MMO inspired her. “I got into VR in 2018 through Orbus,” she writes. “As someone who wasn’t a traditional gamer, I fell in love with the MMORPG genre that offered competition and a lively community. But over time, the games I loved either stalled or failed. That’s when I decided to take the bull by the horns and build something new—a beautiful and enduring home for the VR community I care so deeply about.”
A Kickstarter is also en route, though we have no date for it or for the game itself. In the meantime, the trailer is down below:
