If your idea of a tropical paradise is one where you can face the threats of various monsters, pirates, and swarms of PvP players, then you’re invited to the Turquoise Sea zone that was added to Ashes of Creation this week, with all of its beauty, danger, and naval shenanigans now open to those who are Alpha Two-level backers.
Those who enter this new humid region can look forward to a series of oceans and islands full of lush vegetation and changing weather that promises to “actively shape the environment,” while threats such as a mythical underwater beast, roaming pirate enemies, and a hostile bird-like race known as the Sladeborne. There are also seven “pocket dungeons” scattered around, offering unique challenges and rich rewards for those who dare the delves.
As one might expect, the tentpole feature for the Turquoise Sea is the addition of ship sailing and associated naval PvP combat, which Intrepid Studios encourages as the zone offers guilds farming locations and trade routes to exploit and fight for. Of course, PvP is open everywhere else in the zone too, so try not to look at all of the pretty palm trees too much in case someone decides to gank you and take your stuff. Thrills!
