Dune Awakening will run a large-scale beta from May 9 to 12 – with no NDA this time

When Funcom delayed the launch of its survival MMORPG Dune Awakening from May 20th to June 10th, it casually mentioned that it’d be opening a large-scale open beta weekend at some point in May. Now, we know exactly when it’ll be: May 9th through 12th.

“From May 9 until May 12, the largest Beta yet will take place, with a huge number of new players joining compared to previous closed Betas,” Funcom says. “Players can get a taste of both spice and story in the large-scale Beta weekend, featuring the first 20 hours of the game and most of Act 1 of the story. Unlike previous Betas, this one has no NDA, meaning all information is open to share, and the game can be streamed for all to see.”

The easiest way in is to hit the “request access” button on Steam, though the studio will also be giving out codes during its stream from PAX East on May 10th.

MOP’s own survivalbox fan Larry delivered his first impressions of the game earlier today, finding it much more of an MMORPG than a survivalbox – but it need of work in both areas.
