Remember last year when Ubisoft followed up a year of pissing people off over the unnecessary demise of The Crew 1 by announcing a proper offline mode for The Crew 2? Well, it’s happening. Last night, the company’s Gregory Corgie tried to differentiate between an offline mode and a “decommissioned” game, i.e., a sunsetted game.
“As you can imagine, developing an offline mode requires time and resources,” he says in the new video. “We are pleased to confirm that we are aiming to deploy a new hybrid way to play the game before the end of 2025.” That new “hybrid” mode means no more multiplayer when offline (obviously), but the company doesn’t have a list of other features that are being stripped out yet. He also confirms that The Crew Motorfest will still be getting its own offline mode eventually. The first test for The Crew 2, however, is set for April 30th on PC.
And just in case you thought Ubisoft was going to escape a week without a major fiasco, here are two to cap off Friday: Not only is the company trying to make a blockchain Might and Magic TCG happen, but a European nonprofit has filed a complaint against Ubisoft, asking the EU to fine the company more than $100M because of Ubi’s alleged violation of GDPR laws governing data collection.
