Eyeball Jones is real, kids. I’ve seen him. I know you think he’s just a story but I saw him with my own eyes. Except I don’t have eyes now, because he took them. That’s why they call him Eyeball Jones, kids. Kids? Kids, are you there? I need to use the bathroom, I don’t know where the bathroom is. I don’t have eyes. Kids, I need eyes to see. Kids? I know you’re still here, I can hear you laughing.
Aw, heck. Never mind, I don’t need to use the bathroom any more, took care of it myself. Somebody get me the shop vac.
- I am tired of absurdist anti-narratives that don’t go anywhere.
- Stop making fun of me for liking World of Warcraft.

- Please include alt text for those of us who have been the victims of Eyeball Jones.
- My name is Eyeball Jones and I take offense at this depiction; I have rarely claimed the eyeballs of another human being, and the circumstances justified it when I did so.

Bonus question: What’s the most recent song you can think of that you genuinely like? Not an ironic listen, but a piece of music you enjoy, not from a video game?
Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Definitely doing some Vanillite Community Day, but I wanna hit Monster Hunter Wilds hard if possible. I’m at the point where it’s basically, “Just go out and grind HR levels” and I’m all about that.
Man, I am bad about current music. I guess the most recently released song in my occasional rotation that isn’t game music is Volbeat’s “Die to Live.” I just dig the energy.
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna.bsky.social, blog): I need to go check out the Lord of the Rings Online anniversary event, of course. I also need to swing by Super Adventure Box in Guild Wars 2 while it’s still around. We’ll see how much I get to this weekend; my parents have arrived for the next couple of months, so I may have less game time than usual.
This isn’t really a specific piece of music, but I’ve been listening to a lot of weird background music on YouTube lately to cover up the construction noise from next door, and apparently 40s jazz really works with my brain for that better than anything else I’ve tried. Who knew?
Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes.bsky.social, blog): It would appear that Defiance is maybe starting to shape up a bit? Or at least I had a nice long run before. Either way, I’ll likely keep running and gunning around in that, along with the usual Monster Hunter Wilds randomness and further tanking in Final Fantasy XIV.
So recently I’ve fallen down a VTuber rabbit hole and have come across a lot of extremely talented and entertaining personalities. One of the apparent hallmarks for most VTubers is their ability to sing, though usually I brushed it all off as anime/weeb trash…right until a song by Ironmouse with backtracking by a guy named Bubi called “Devil” crossed my desk. Consider me delightfully proven wrong.
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Got a fair amount of stuff to do in FFXIV with Cosmic Exploration, alongside a need to play some Clair Obsucr: Expedition 33 because of course I need to get on that.
A friend turned me on to Sleep Token a few days ago, so that’s my current new musical exploration. Fun stuff.
Sam Kash (@samkash@mastodon.social): I’ve got a handful of evenings in the Havenhold beta. Since the 14 day servers don’t close for another week I’ll continue logging in and playing that on and off. They tend to shut down the servers at 10 pm my time which is right in the middle of my prime gaming so I haven’t gotten as much action as I wanted. Still I want to see this server through. Single player I’ll be trying to beat Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. I’m pretty certain I’m on the final boss so that should be a done deal this weekend.
Bonus: I’ve been enjoying the new Lady Gaga album. I can’t think of any of the specific titles but there’s some goodies in there.
Tyler Edwards (blog): I’ve got one day left in my World of Warcraft sub, so I’ll play a bit of that. Mostly just doing the new Nightfall dailies for the transmog. I’ve also been having a surprising amount of fun with Overwatch 2’s Stadium mode, so I might play more of that, and I may get around to starting Lost Records: Bloom and Rage now that tape 2 is out.
Bonus: I kept editing my answer before publication because I kept thinking of more recent stuff. Final answer would be Anywhere but Dancing from Lauren Mayberry of Chvrches’ debut solo album, Vicious Creature, which came out in December. I had the incredible privilege of seeing her perform live a few weeks ago. Absolutely superlative.
