Badgers of City of Heroes: Homecoming, rise up! Today marks the 21st anniversary of the original MMORPG’s release, which is reason enough for the fan-run officially licensed servers to hand out a free badge to everyone who logs in between now and May 31st.

“In commemoration of the 21st anniversary (and the fact that City of Heroes is now old enough to drink in Rhode Island) this year’s anniversary badge is titled Cheers!” the player devs announce. “Disclaimer: in spite of the badge title, the Homecoming team does not recommend drinking while playing City of Heroes and does not take any responsibility for any horrific mistakes you might make while doing so.”

On top of the new badge (along with two other new ones), players can also purchase prior years’ anniversary badges from Luna’s shop through May, and the MMO’s anniversary event from last year, which featured goodie-filled time capsules dotted around Paragon City, will be back once again until May 27th.
