Ideally those who bought in to the early access of Pax Dei were prepared to see their progression reset a few times as the survival sandbox moved through development, but all the same those folks shouldn’t get too cozy with their characters because a significant full progression wipe is coming when its Verse 3 update arrives sometime in the spring.
Mainframe Industries explains in the announcement that the reset is necessary because the patch is bringing “substantial changes to the world, gear and crafting progression, along with combat skills,” all of which cannot be done without slapping the big ol’ reset button. And it does sound like a very big reset: plots will be removed, gear will be deleted, clans will be wiped, combat and crafting skills will be reset, and the map topography will change to make room for more heartlands per province. What won’t be reset is earned grace and gold.
Of course players will be getting compensation for the trouble, specifically in the form of refunded materials in most cases, though the studio does leave the door open for possible adjustments. Players will be duly informed when plans are more ironed out.
As for when Verse 3 will launch, that’s projected for sometime this June, though there’s no full commitment to that timetable.
Lastly, Mainframe points out that this should be the last wipe before the planned 1.0 launch wipe, but again it’s non-committal, saying too that “this may change depending on the game’s development.” The studio also confirms that when full release arrives, everything – including gold and grace – will be fully removed. So consider this new wipe a practice run. Kind of like the last time, only much, much bigger.
