Now that Apple is being told in no uncertain terms to stop hindering Fortnite‘s functional re-entry to the App Store and to let developers deploy third-party purchasing options without interference, just how will players be able to download and install the shooter? Apparently, via a Swedish account that Epic Games owns.

Epic CEO Tim Sweeney confirmed in a Twitter thread that his company has “conversed with Apple on the topic and will use our Epic Games Sweden account to submit Fortnite to the US App Store.” He didn’t give any timeline for the return, and as of this writing players outside of the EU are still being directed to access the battle royale via cloud gaming services, but presumably this return will happen soon.

As referenced before, this revelation was part of a longer series of threads asking about Fortnite’s own walled garden, which Sweeney answers by talking up Fortnite’s metaverse aspirations and further claims restrictions such as Apple’s aren’t how he wants the game to be run. He even got into a small tiff with Twitter’s AI bot Grok for a moment and responded to another AI question about Fortnite returning to Mac, saying in part that it would be “a good worldwide move for Apple to make.”
