The Daily Grind: How long is your average MMO play session?

My preferred MMO playstyle is to juggle two or three games, and as such, I have to split my available time between them. So when I sit down with a title, I usually boot it up and spend around 30 to 45 minutes in it. That’s enough to get a few things done, maybe even a lot of things if I’m driven, and no matter what, I push the needle of progress forward. That’s satisfactory to me.

And honestly, even if I had all the time in the world, I am not built to do long marathon sessions the way I might’ve a couple decades ago. Too much time in an MMO tends to foster burnout, so I enjoy those shorter trips every day.

I’d like to hear from you, though. How long is your average MMO play session? Are there MMOs you tend to play more of and others less? Are you a creature of habit or does your play time fluctuate greatly?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
