As I type this, Another One Bites The Dust is going through my head, but I’m not talking about an MMO – just its forums. This afternoon, DECA Games, the Embracer-owned studio that took over the operation of Star Trek Online from Cryptic Studios last year, has announced that it’s shutting down its forums in favor of – you guessed it – Discord.
“After many years of community discussion on the forums, we’ve made the decision to migrate our resources to where most players are now actively communicating,” CM Fero writes. “We will be migrating our official Star Trek Online community discussions to an Official Discord this summer. We want to thank everyone for your feedback, creativity, and passion that have helped shape the forums all these years. Stay tuned for more info and an invite to the official Discord. We look forward to seeing you on Discord!”
There are already several unofficial Discords for the game, of course, but apparently, you’re getting a new one.
Neverwinter and Champions Online fans, don’t think you’re escaping either; a similar message was posted to the Neverwinter and Champs forums, though as I type this, of those two only the Champs players are responding.
