If you’ve been keeping your fingers on the pulse of Soulframe, then you were probably keeping a close watch on the livestream from PAX East, which provided a few looks at the game’s next pre-alpha Preludes build within Digital Extremes’ allotted six minutes worth of time to talk about the online RPG. Yes, that’s literally how much time they were told they had.

The stream started off with a peek at some Preludes 10 features, which focused on the addition of 13 motes that players can find around the world, collect, and utilize to provide elemental power to their weapons. There was also an in-development look at a boss fight that heads a new enemy faction (though the devs did point out that assets used were placeholder), as well as some brief details about its Festival of the Circade event that challenges players to complete a puzzle in order to defeat a spirit and forge what sounds like a new weapon.

The final portion of the Soulframe segment closed out with a new gameplay trailer that once again focused on the player character’s magical abilities, use of myriad different weapons that were swapped mid-fight frequently, and the rescuing and petting of forest animal friends. Players are being directed to wait until TennoCon in July, which is when the studio promises big reveals for the game, but for now that gameplay trailer waits below.
