The Daily Grind: What’s your longest unbroken stretch of time in a single MMORPG?

A lot of us talk about how long we have been playing MMORPGs with a certain amount of editing. For example, it would be broadly accurate to say that I have been playing World of Warcraft since the game launched… but y’know, there have been breaks in there. And it’s hardly unique in that regard. Oh, sure, I have been playing Final Fantasy XIV since the 1.0 launch, but I am not going to pretend that I have been active in the game during 1.0 as a continual spend-hours-every-day sort of thing.

But I have been subscribed to the game non-stop since the relaunch, and I have been consistently active since then. That is definitely my longest unbroken stretch of time in a single MMORPG, with no real breaks along the way. Sure, some weeks are not terribly active, but I would never describe myself as taking a break.

It can be harder when you’re dealing with free-to-play or buy-to-play games, but I’m curious about what your longest unbroken stretch of time in a single MMORPG would be. Have you been in a game nonstop since it launched? Did you play a single game for several years at a stretch? Or do you tend to graze, playing one game for a few months, then another, on down the line?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
