New World fans are preparing for the launch of Season of the Divide this morning as the servers went down at 8 a.m. EDT this morning with a planned return at 10 a.m. EDT. The update, the MMORPG’s second major update of the year and second since Aeternum, includes the Coral Divide Outpost Rush map players have been testing all spring, the barbershop (finally!), target locking and aim assist, upgraded PvP camps, and world bosses rotated in from the game’s core dungeons.
If you can hang in there until June, this season also introduces the new “hardcore” seasonal server, which features speedy leveling, the removal of the core main story quest, easier gearing, and a modified permadeath ruleset.
Worth noting is that a barbershop token is available through the free rewards track for S8; otherwise, you’ll be paying 10K marks of fortune for a new hairdo.
Amazon did release a new video this week as well, this one focused on the Capture the Flag PvP mode. This mode is in preview during S8, but it’ll fully launch in S9; the first preview runs this weekend, in fact, on May 16th-19th. Players should also expect to be previewing the 3v3 arena map and Barebones mode.
