Looking for a fast-paced anime MMO with a whole lot of hot button action and crazy combos? Nuverse’s Crystal of Atlan has all that and some magipunk theming besides, and it’s coming to a ton of platforms by the end of the month.
The company announced that Crystal of Atlan is officially launching on May 28th as a cross-platform MMO that services PC, PlayStation 5, Android, and iOS. Over six million people have pre-registered to play already.
“Launching with 11 unique classes, including the brand-new playable Fighter and a special collaboration with Team Liquid, Crystal of Atlan promises an action-packed debut for players around the world,” the studio said.
Unfortunately, Nuverse said that it’s going to have to bow out of running the game in the US.
“In order to ensure the stable and enduring operation of our game in the United States, Nuverse made a very hard decision and reached an agreement with our cooperation partner Skystone, a veteran local game publisher in the US,” the company says. “With effect from [June 15th], the game’s operations in the US region will be transferred from Nuverse to Skystone. This strategic decision is made with the best interests of our players in mind, and we believe that Skystone’s expertise and resources will bring you an immersive and engaging gaming experience.”
We’re assuming that this is all a result of the fallout of the Tiktok ban chaos from earlier this year following the then-new U.S. administration’s confusing messaging and threats over Chinese companies. Nuverse is Tiktok owner ByteDance’s publishing arm, and the temporary Tiktok ban managed to take out the Nuverse-published Marvel Snap too. Marvel Snap, not coincidentally, also moved from Nuverse to Skystone, which just so happens to be David Brevik’s company. In other words, Crystal of Atlan is in good hands indeed.
