
While most of us who play online games don’t have much holding us back from engaging with these titles, that’s not the case for players afflicted with various disabilities that range from sight to nervous systems to missing limbs. Once ignored by the industry, accessibility features are becoming more widespread, opening the virtual doors to formerly barred gamers.
One of the titles pouring effort into improving accessibility is Diablo IV, which has a full team dedicated to improving options for all types of players. In a fascinating new video, Blizzard shares how it’s added over 50 disability options, including navigation assistance with a brightly colored compass arrow, sonar pings, and a screen reader to read out text.
