Last week, Lost Ark invited players to tune in to its YouTube channel for an informational video about what’s coming later down the pike for the MMOARPG. That video has indeed debuted, and there were most definitely plenty of reveals on offer.
Heading off the reveals is a new system currently codenamed Paradise. This “experimental” seasonal progression system, specifically being developed by Smilegate RPG for the west, will have weekly activities for every character broken up into three distinct types: Paradise, a short monster wave survival mode; Gods’ Testimony, which pits players against a boss in a 1v1 scrap; and Hell, a multi-floor dungeon where players must descend as deep as possible.
These three activities all have a specific reward track both for the content itself and for the wider season. In short, players start at Paradise to farm season-specific Paradise gear, which will power them up to face Testimony bosses, which drop keys of varying depths to Hell. The Hell delves are where rewards get tasty, including more Paradise gear, gold, and progression materials. Extra rewards are promised for activity reward pools and for those who place on leaderboards.
While the upcoming Paradise seasons and current Frontier system are all aimed to the more casual players, there’s also the promise of new things for the hardcore grinders in Lost Ark. In addition to the upcoming Kazeros Act 3 raid in June, which is described as the hardest content available, there will be an upcoming fight against Kazeros himself that includes a special difficulty and the addition of challenge modes for existing raids. The devs point out that challenge mode is a longer term project and so details could change.
The video also shared some general hints at what’s coming later, such as the female Paladin and the next strike raid sometime during the summer, adjustments to the Mokoko Boot Camp event, a Mileage Shop that will offer rewards based on cash shop purchase history, and consideration of other game matters like empowering support characters and progression systems in the Korean version like gems.
Much of what’s being discussed doesn’t really have any launch timing, but Amazon Games promises that more information will be handed out both during its next roadmap update and as in-development content gets fleshed out. For now, the look ahead awaits in the video below.
