For the multiplayer open world of Autonomica, the second verse was definitely different than the first. Readers might recall that this multiplayer solarpunk cozy open world first came to us as Farm Folks, which had a much smaller general focus of multiplayer farming and survival. It also arrived with some business baggage, as original developer Overgrown failed to finish the game after crowdfunding the project in 2018, leaving it to be bought out by new studio Crytivo along with a new game name, a widened series of activities, and a second Kickstarter drive.
Well, that drive is over and it has most definitely succeeded, to the tune of $1,019,343 from over 11K backers. This, in turn, means that every single off-the-wall stretch goal has been achieved, including underwater exploration, the addition of kids, a more modern city, and dino crisis mode.
As one might expect, the studio is delighted and promises to already be hard at work on making modes, locations, features, and backer rewards. It also confirmed that freebies for meeting social follower goals, which include a robot dog and an expedition van vehicle, will be unlocked for everyone. “What an incredible campaign. What an incredible fanbase. We’re finishing strong, and now we’re building Autonomica into a game people will remember for a long, long time,” the devs remark.
From here, fans are being invited to keep tabs on the project’s development through a wide assortment of social media platforms as well as wishlist the game on Steam in order to help raise its visibility. Otherwise it’s watch, wait, and hope for the best. Or at least something actually playable.
