Cast your minds back to this past March, when ARK: Survival Evolved announced that it would be releasing a new Aquatica map DLC to mark the survival sandbox’s 10th anniversary, which was heralded by a trailer that featured awful and laughable footage using procedural AI generation – a trailer that publisher Snail Games said it knew nothing about. Well, we have a new trailer for the map, and this time it has the good sense to use in-engine footage.
The trailer grants a glimpse at the “non-canonical” map, with a whole bunch of underwater biomes and a smattering of the 20 new creatures that will populate the new play space, including a mechanical narwhal-like Monodon. There’s also some peeks at various weapons, underground biomes (that house t-rexes somehow), and fish with mouths that are way too damn big and toothy.
There still isn’t any news about when the Aquatica map will be available for ASE fans, but the new trailer does await below. Incidentally, the original AI-gen trailer that Snail debuted apparently was sent into the ether, but the internet never forgets; we’re embedding that reupload too for comparison and contrast purposes. Also because it’s too funny not to witness again.
