the hearts, they have lions

Over six million people playing Roblox decided to take on the Lionhearts game within the title as a big large-scale strategy game set against the background of the Crusades. That was enough for developer Credenzio Studios to decide that they could take this show on the road and build a version of Lionhearts that exists as its own thing with graphics powered by Unreal 5 in a persistent strategy world mirroring Europe during the Crusades.

In the spin-off game, players will be able to take part in numerous historically inspired activities to build power and influence and ultimately do battle against other factions with 66 professions and 14 guild types to choose from. The game’s future Kickstarter page suggests the game will even allow you to task your offline character to still perform tasks… along with the promise that the game will have almost no NPCs, instead relying almost entirely on other players.

Lionhearts contains a single, persistent open world where servers are stitched together into seamless cells,” the devs say. “Every location exists in only one instance, no server hopping required. Supply and demand are real. Each fief is unique and owned by an individual player. […] With 12 player-run kingdoms and 4 military orders, every position of power, from lord to king, is controlled by real players. Command retinues, wage wars, and navigate diplomacy in a dynamic, unscripted struggle for land and influence. Monarchs must balance internal politics, trade, and religion while competing for dominance in the Holy Land and beyond.”

It does make you wonder what game world is going to look like when you have dozens of people who would like to be lords and for some reason no one is volunteering for the “footsoldier who dies from septic shock from a single arrow” tier. Just keep that in mind as you check out the screenshots below and the full Kickstarter page before it launches.
