Back in 2023, we first reported on – and watched and tried – the voxel-y milsim FPS BattleBit Remastered, which puts up to 254 players into maps to hold territory in what looked like a mashup of Minecraft, Call of Duty, and Arma III. The game caught absolute fire at the time, but updates completely dried up after December 2023, leading the early access title to get auto-flagged on Steam for its content drought and see “mostly negative” user reviews begin to swell, while player numbers have tumbled off of a cliff from an all-time high of over 87K to just just barely 1,000 at its last 24-hour peak.
Well, it looks as if the three-person indie team behind the title have taken the hint, and after 18 months of no new content whatsoever, the game dropped a teaser trailer for a new update titled Operation: Overhaul. We put emphasis on “teaser” here, as the 16 seconds’ worth of footage provides literally no context for what’s really new beyond what may be some new maps, and all that the official Twitter account is saying is, “Soon…”
Understandably, reaction to this new teaser is pretty mixed: Some are expressing excitement, others wondering if they should feel hopeful, while many more are calling this too little, too late. We’ve got the teaser below for your own viewing to see what’s going on, but if nothing else, it would appear that this one isn’t completely abandoned. Yet.
