If you blinked during the Summer Game Fest 2025 hoopla earlier this month, then you may have missed that NCsoft announced yet another new game in the Blade and Soul franchise. Dubbed Blade & Soul Heroes, the game is apparently a “collectible action MMORPG” that’s actually a sort of prequel to the other games. “It’s a story-driven game offering dual combat types – real-time and turn-based – plus a creative mix-and-max team dynamic,” the company said at the time. “The collectible component encourages players to seek out different heroes and build teams optimally suited to counter each boss’s distinct attack patterns.”
We’re expecting the launch in September, but in the meantime, NCsoft has released an eight-minute “gameplay showcase” that tries to make some sense out of the game, though all without voiceover. The combat actually looks flashy and fun, as do the characters, though MMO fans may chafe a bit at their inability to build their own. Then again, the genre could use more party-based PvE MOBA MMOs, wouldn’t you agree?
