DDO explains Chill of Ravenloft loot system while LOTRO sells new Loyal Knight Patron’s coffer

Even as Dungeons and Dragons Online is a little over a week from launching its new 64-bit servers (that would be July 9th), the fantasy MMO is simultaneously prepping its Chill of Ravenloft expansion for this coming August. In regard to the latter, SSG explained how it’s handling the loot system as it continues to test it.

“When it comes to rare treasure, the ultimate goal is that we want obtaining a rare drop to feel meaningful and not rote — that when someone gets one, it feels special,” the devs posted. “With that said, we also don’t want it to feel insurmountable, so we continue to tune the rates so that we can hit that sweet spot of special-but-not-impossible.”

Over in Lord of the Rings Online, SSG is selling a brand-new Loyal Knight Patron’s coffer with a special armor set, steed, and helmeted goose:
