Ubisoft follows up Heroes of Might & Magic Olden Era delay by adding a new publisher too

Back in June, we covered the surprising news that studio Unfrozen and publisher Ubisoft had delayed multiplayer turn-based RPG Heroes of Might and Magic Olden Era, meant to be a prequel to the OG game with a focus on multiplayer PvE and PvP fun. It was supposed to hit early access this past spring in conjunction with the franchise’s 30th anniversary, but last week, Ubisoft delayed it to “later in 2025” in order to “give Olden Era the care it deserves.”

But now, we’re finding out there’s more to the story, as Ubisoft has apparently brought in yet another publisher to get the game out the door: Hooded Horse. As RPS notes, that’s the studio behind Manor Lords, though it’s not exactly clear why Ubisoft is going this route, unless it has to do with the corporation’s ongoing internal merry-go-round.

“Hooded Horse is excited to announce that it has come to an agreement with Ubisoft and Unfrozen to serve as publisher for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, which is due to release on PC via Steam Early Access later this year,” today’s press release says, accompanied by glowing praise for the franchise and the newcomers from all three studios now involved.

Bonus: There’s a new trailer too. Now, if we can just figure out the best way to shorten this game name into something digestible but also more recognizable than just Olden Era. HOMAMOE is funny but perhaps not the vibe.
