Daybreak was busy Daybreaking this week – the good kind of Daybreaking, mind you – and there’s so much that we’re gonna round it all up!

First, EverQuest’s producer’s letter for July dropped, with studio head Jenn Chan recapping the game’s spring content, promising a content creator program, the merge of the Ragefire server into Vox on July 16th, and of course, the upcoming expansion.

“[T]he development team has got their noses to the grindstone getting this year’s expansion ready for you all,” she says. “The artists and designers are busy creating new zones, putting together new NPCs, creating quests and raids, updating and creating new spells and alternate abilities, and creating new items. The only additional thing I can say about what’s coming is that, depending on your side of the table, sometimes rolling a natural 20 is equivalent to rolling a critical 1. This expansion will be to Die for[.]” Hmmm!

Chan then moseyed over to the EverQuest II community for a similar beandrop; we’re now looking at GU129: Fear of Eternity testing and launching in August, complete with a catch-up crate given to all subbers. The team is also working on EQII’s 22nd expansion, will will follow the prelude event, Heralds of Oblivion, in September.

“Violent rifts begin opening across Norrath, unleashing a myriad of aggressors, and just when one might assume the situation can’t get worse… you can bet, it will. Every hero, no matter their adventure level or tradeskill experience, will be called upon to help battle this growing onslaught. There will be no avoiding the Heralds of Oblivion! Heralds of Oblivion is shaping up to be the biggest prelude event to rock Norrath since 2018’s Against the Elements event that preceded Chaos Descending. Over the span of the event, it will deliver a slew of new content including 5 tradeskill quests, 5 adventure quests, 2 public quests, 2 collections, and an expansive list of rewards including equipment, house items, recipes, and pets!”

Incidentally, EQII’s Scorched Sky event went live this afternoon. Fire! Explosions! Good stuff in time for the Fourth.

DC Universe Online fans are currently being treated to a summer event, Tides of War, which is live now and runs through July 28th for players over level 20. “This year’s event is packed with all-new rewards, including Chroma Materials, Absolute Aquaman Styles, Feats, and Base Items, plus the all-new Iconic Ability: Atlan Brine Hulk!” the studio says. “Collect Sand Dollars and exchange them for seasonal items at the Atlantean Quartermaster in the House of Legends.” We also spy an update to pet collision in the notes.

And finally, PlanetSide 2 rolled out part one of its summer update, which kinda just looks like sales to us. “Check back next week for our second summer update with more details on our summer events,” Toadbreak says.
