Fallout 76’s public test server beeped, clicked, and whirred back to life this past week as Bethesda put a few significant changes through the player gauntlet. This starts with some welcome “relaxed” building rules and concludes with much-needed combat rebalancing.
As for the former, Bethesda notes, “Relaxed Build Rules are activated for Adventure Mode. Unleash your creativity by letting your C.A.M.P. items float, intersect with each other, or be unsupported! We hope that this update allows you to further scratch that creative itch in your mind.”
And for the latter, the studio is boosting damage for light machine guns, allowing players to craft receivers based on specific ammo types, improving VATS responsiveness, bumping up melee weapon DPS, and tweaking monster health and resistances. Bethesda said that this is “one of the largest numeric shifts that Fallout 76’s combat has gone through” and is being monitored closely on the test realm.
