Secret World Legends patron benefits revealed

Folks have been waiting a while for the lowdown on the Secret World Legends patron benefits, and Creative Director Romain Amiel just shared some tidbits with us. The benefits for subscribing to the reboot include some items The Secret World players are familiar with (bonuses to earning currency, free anima leaps, reduced mission cool down timers, and bonus XP) as well as some new additions that are specific to SWL (increased healing potion capacity, free auction house delivery, the ability to trade directly other patrons, a free daily cache key, and daily bonus keys for dungeons, scenarios, and lairs). There’s also a 50% discount for buying healing potions.

For those who purchased the Grandmaster lifetime account, that will guarantee that you’ll be a patron for life in SWL. However, there will be no way for any players — new or old — to purchase this going forward. As for the price on patron, we don’t have particulars yet, but we’ll share those details as soon as we get them.

You can already by skill points. So the limits will be how fast you can level in this game vs how much you are willing to pay? It is bad enough you can’t mix and match weapons.

Oh goody. Keys.

You also cannot use the cabal ( guild ) bank without patron. And only Funcon could make a game engine ( a shitty game engine, admittedly ) run worse and call it “improved”. And still 32 bit? ROFLMAO

So I’d like to set up my TSW characters for the legacy transfer…only my install for The Secret World seems to have been hijacked completely by Secret World Legends. Um…

DAMMIT! Now I have two copies of Legends, and none of the original. There’s a long f***ing download ahead of me.

This has pushed me over the line. It is just unconscionable. I now join the people who think that FunCom has become totally clueless. I will not be putting any more money into their ventures.

Welp, at least I got my accounts linked. Now to hope that I can get the client installed and actually get in-game today, definitely eager to jump back in even if I’m still frustrated with Funcom.

Looks fair, I didn’t expect to continue to receive bonus points on the grandmaster. Had no reason to spend money in the game.

Anyone else logging in at the account site using the same credentials as for AoC and TSW, yet not seeing any button for TSW Legacy Transfer?

Reader
dthblayde

It’s there now. FC fixed the page so that the botton shows.

Reader

Just logged in again and the option was there

Reader
Matthew Yetter

Bingo. It worked for me. Thanks!

Reader

Same I don’t see it either so it’s not just you. Maybe we do have to log into the game first.

Reader
Hirku

I didn’t see it either, but I’m not sure if we’re supposed to log in to the actual game client first for that to be available.

I never played TSW, but I’m want to try SWL. If we assume patron will be somewhere between $7 and $15 a month, do these benefits look worthwhile? I have no clue, just looking for input.

The cache key alone is worth about $1 if bought from the cash shop directly. So, in terms of raw monetary value, it’s definitely a solid deal based on that alone. I think pricing on the dungeon and scenario keys are pretty similar, as well?

Everything else is basically a nice-to-have that slightly reduces the amount of grinding you have to do. Enough to be noticeable but not so much that you’re screwed without it. One way to think of it is that for every 10 hours of XP grinding you do as a Patron, a non-Patron would have to do 11 hours to get the same result. It adds up, but it’s not essential.

Hard to tell.
It’s probably useful for the dungeon/raid loot, if you play a lot.
For more casual play, you really won’t miss it though.

Isn’t there supposed to be some kind of loyalty system fur subs/GM’s? Would love to see what those perks are if so…

It’s nice to finally get this info officially, but this should have come days ago, if not weeks. And kinda mindblowing that they don’t bloody list out the price of a sub, if it’s not the standard $15 with reductions for multi-month purchases. This whole rollout continues to be a series of communications failures on Funcoms part, which is par for the course for them sadly.

Also…I assume “lair keys” are for raids…are “scenario” keys for normal missions or something? And the “cache” key is just for the random boxes that drop from mobs, correct? The references to potions have me weirded out though, it makes me thing there are bigger chances to combat than I’d previously guessed. What’s up with that stuff?

Scenario keys are for the Council of Venice combat simulator ‘scenarios’. AKA the things added into TSW back in Issue #8.

Reader

Yeah nothing new on it. It would seem that previously gained loyalty rewards would transfer over though.

Reader

The Bonus keys are nice, I forgot about those from the beta. It lets you open more stuff in dungeon runs, which is nice since dungeons can now be run solo (or duo).

You mostly get distillates to upgrade gear without spending anima shards, which again, is good for gearing.

Reader
Kinya

Bonus scenario, lairs and dungeon keys? Seriously?! This is how they are gonna earn money to limit entrance to this kind of stuff?

Reader
Geoffrey Smith

It doesn’t limit entrance to dungeons.

Reader
Tanek

The keys are just for reward chests. I don’t think it limits entrance to anything I’ve seen. We’ll all have more direct information soon when people can get in and play the live game, though. :)

Nope, you can enter and complete the dungeons as many times as you like. And everyone gets a certain number of dungeon keys per day. 12, I think? Patrons just get more.

Hehe, when beta went away, it was 4 bonus dungeon keys. 8 is better, but beating the random number generator is still a very steep uphill battle, regardless of whether you get 12, 16 or 20 dungeon keys a day.
The price for Aurum would be useful information. If it turns out to be 1 Aurum = 1 Funcom point, then the 30 lockbox keys each month (if you log in daily) are a value of 45€

Wait what , They limit dungeon entrances ? This is not a mobile game please stop this crap.
Already lost all will to try this game …

The keys open up the loot crates in the dungeons, not the dungeons themselves. So you can run it endlessly, you just have to buy keys to open the crates.

Reader
Indigo Salma

So i don’t get any loot from running dungeons if i don’t get the key ?

Reader
Koshelkin

Most MMO’s restrict what you can get from dungeons. FFXIV e.g. caps the weekly amount of tokens you can acquire.

Reader
Geoffrey Smith

If you don’t have a key, you can’t open a boss crate. You can choose whether or not to use the key by interacting with a chest that appears after a boss fight. You get 12 keys per day.

Reader
Hirku

Pretty underwhelming, but I’m getting it for free so whatever.

Indeed, although no more monthly credits to spend on future dlc/cosmetics :(

They can’t give those credits away anymore, was killing them. GMs really had no reason to spend money.

Reader

Although more new outfits might have encouraged a little spending, but those stopped coming awhile ago.

Dang it so near yet so far, its the price that is important to me. Funcom have traditionally charged UK players more than the usual for their game subs. I am feeling slightly anxious about not having this info and worried they will take the opportunity to increase it further.

Well to try and be a bit positive at least I know a bit more than I did a minute ago :-)

So for the record the price did increase ever so slightly TSW = £11.49 SWL = £11.99 (though it doesn’t actually tell you that in game it says £9.99 but charges £11.99 which is price + VAT, not mentioned as far as I could see but I was rushing its possible i missed it. ).

TLDR: So price did go up but I was expecting bigger than it was so subbed with a smile :-)
