Deceive Inc. developer dissolves after hitting a ‘breaking point,’ but the game will stay online for now

We’ve got some disheartening news for anyone who was enjoying the spy vs. spy team shooter Deceive Inc.: Developer Sweet Bandits announced on its forums yesterday that it is no more, dissolving after what was called a “breaking point” for the studio.

“After a long and difficult road of trying to get Deceive inc. in a state where it could thrive, we have reached the breaking point for the studio, unable to continue this adventure with you,” the announcement reads. “We’ve put our heart and soul into this game and nothing makes us happier than seeing it resonate with other people across the world.”

As for what happens to the shooter itself, the devs will only say that its “path ahead is currently being charted by our partners at [publisher] Tripwire Interactive,” with the ultimate goal of keeping the game in a possible maintenance mode. For now, players are still able to access the game as they always have until more details arise. Our condolences to fans of this unique team shooter and the 18 devs at Sweet Bandits who were affected.
