Evidently, NCsoft is no longer going to be soft. It’s not going to be hard, either, or even slightly squishy. It’s simply going to be NC, a name change meant to recognize that the company, which first started off making software, now has its thumbs in a whole lot of different pies.
The name change also holds hands with a logo change the company made in January of this year, which was just loaded with symbolism according to the company’s CEO. So the fact that the company is dropping an aspect of its business that no longer applies from its logo makes sense in that regard. The name change is expected to be formalized at some point before September of next year.
