Asta starts open beta with giveaways

The open beta for the eastern fantasy title Asta is now upon us, as Webzen is welcoming anyone with an account to come and try out this Korean import.

To mark the occasion — and stir up some additional interest — the studio is giving freebies out to players who log in during specific time periods and over a set amount of days. Also, there is a running competition to see which players can hit 50 first on different classes, crafting professions, and in PvP.

I played for a few hours last night and actually enjoyed it quite a bit.  Not exactly the flashiest thing I’ve ever seen but the environments and music are rather relaxing and what can I say, I like my tab-targeters.  Rolled a mage and by level 5 had a bar full of skills already, which I was glad to see.  The attribute enhancement system is kind of neat, especially since it can be done at any time with in-game money.  Nothing earth-shaking here, but at least that saves us from hearing about how “innovative!” and “groundbreaking!” it is, lol.

It’s pretty bland. Animations are really stiff. Feels like the game was never finished.

Have sunk a few hours into it today & its not too shabby, played around with a different race on each faction before settling into a Draconian.
Was going to give Trinium Wars a shot as well but I really thought it was going to be a F2P, I cant bring myself to pay for it when it only has 50 or so players online.

It is kinda sad … before Black Desert I was all set to try to set up a long term shop / get back into running a guild with this game.

but now …… which sucks because Webzen could have really used my business on this.

I lasted about 15 minutes. It felt like travelling back in time to 2004 and not in a good way. :7

Having trouble downloading the client.
It get’s stuck at 80%.
Hard to find solutions on their site, too.
Not sure it’s even worth the trouble…
