The Daily Grind: Which MMOs do you wish you had played a long time ago?

One of the most frustrating aspects of being an MMORPG gamer is the passage of time. I can’t put MMOs that I’m not playing on “pause” to pick them up when I’m good and ready, after all. If I don’t play them now, their popularity may wane or the game could close entirely.

It really does make a difference when you get into an MMO, to some degree. Games at launch sport a community full of vibrant energy and excitement, and some MMOs go on to enjoy long streaks of being in the spotlight. But then comes the long tail when they fall out of favor and playing them could feel like you’ve arrived at the party late.

Which MMOs do you wish you had played a long time ago? I was thinking this week that, knowing myself as a gamer now, I would have probably enjoyed Asheron’s Call if I had gotten into it in the late ’90s and early 2000s. It’s still there, of course, but a pale shadow of what it once was. What about you?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
