WRUP: This just in, we’re lost on the way to the news edition

Thank you, Tom, I’m out here in the field and I do not know what I’m supposed to be covering out here. We are extremely lost right now, Tom. You should have given us better information about an address, because let me tell you something, if this is where we’re supposed to be, there’s nothing happening, Tom. Either you’re trolling us or you just wanted us lost out here.

Is that how it is, Tom? Did you send us out here to be cold and confused and cover a non-news story while you could make the boss think you’re the right guy for that new anchor spot? Listen, Tom, I swear I will drive back to the station so fast that it will break land speed records. I will smack the smile off your face if you try to take this from me, don’t test me. That’s all from here, now to What Are You Playing with the weekend plans and potentially the weather.

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Pokemon Go in Vegas, but probably just passively. It’s a whirlwind, 24-hour trip with a family friend (yay!) and some blood relations. Trying to be positive. I want to do some Fire Emblem Heroes because they have an interesting new mechanic, or return to Splatoon 2, or finally log into The Elder Scrolls Online but uuuugh, too much drama in my life while I do con prep. I’ll probably have to trade game time for sleep time again.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): I dunno. I set out to do two things last weekend and ended up in Guild Wars 2 with my husband and kid. Maybe this week I should set out to play Guild Wars 2 and my two other games will happen instead!

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): So my usual routine is Final Fantasy XIV and World of Warcraft. I also have Warframe (which I’m quite enjoying) and Final Fantasy XII (which I am also quite enjoying but is not for work). That’s more than enough to keep me occupied.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): Now that RIFT Prime is online, I’m going full-bore in that game to see how far I can get my Cleric while wandering off the path to explore, take screenshots, and do every rift I can find. I would like to make my way over to Lord of the Rings Online’s Northern Mirkwood, but that may have to wait until next week…

Liandreth, patron: I’ll be playing RIFT Prime with DK and the gang. We’ve decided on the name Died of Dysentery. So far, it’s been a lot of fun. Slowly leveling up while keeping my crafts up to par as well.

Your turn!

After coming back to WOW I almost have flying in Broken Isles. I was surprised how close I was with out really trying to get flying, I was just playing the game.
I’ll probably get some EVE time in OR some STO. Basically space ship pew pew time.

A bit despondent after England took the deciding game 5 in the ODI (Cricket) series against my Black Caps (New Zealand). So, now I find myself cheering on South Africa against the brutish Aussies in their Test match.

Oh.
Right.
Gaming.
I’m not really sure what’s going on with my rotation of games.

-I’ve tired of GTA Online for now.
-I’m likely to put TERA and B&S aside for a while.
-ESO…meh, for now.

-Warframe always gets a bit of time.
-I finally levelled my Mesmer to 60 in GW2…so there’s that.
-I keep trying Path of Exile (for national pride, if nothing else), but can’t manage to get a grasp of it.

Enjoying the end of Summer here…mostly outdoors and such.

I have bounced off of PoE multiple times too. The game has a lot more depth than D3 and not much is well explained.

This time I am following a build (a cheesy necro one at that) and it is clicking much better. 5th time is the charm maybe? Other toons made it to 16, 16, 27, 47 – this new one is 59. The 47 made it to the end of the story when it was 5 acts. This new one is on 7 and is the first one to have a hideout.

I’d probably cheer on New Zealand as well tbh.

But yeah, the end of summer is depressing :'(

I’m caught in the middle of messing around, key phrase messing around, in GW2, resubbing to WoW or playing an emulator that I’d rather not name that is definitely not WoW related. No seriously, it’s not. See? Not breaking the Terms and Services! Mark up one for the good guys! Yeah! But really, I don’t know what I’ll be doing this weekend.

Just finished reading Riyria Chronicles by Michael J. Sullivan. Somehow, I managed to consume six hundred forty nine pages in about six hours. I don’t know either. It’s definitely a feat to be mentioned by myself as I typically take it slow and steady when reading. A bit troupey, but easy to read. I guess it was what I was looking for. I might check out the next set of books. We’ll see. It’s all up in the air right now as is the rest of the weekend and the hour that the world is stealing from me! Have a good one folks!

This week: I think I need to work on my sense of humor and with (or lack there-of). As I have a tendency to think I am saying something funny, only it go over like a pink lead balloon. :(

Also this week: More WoWstar, LynStar and I might boot up ElinStar…the latter I was having difficulty upgrading my Weapon enchants on a new character. It wasn’t taking for some reason. So I presumed the feature was now moved over to premium account. Thus, I gave up in the end…and moved onto Lynstar. /sigh

Anyroads, have a great week and weekend folks! <3

Reading this week: Saga of Tanya the Evil…about a narcissist who was turned into magical girl by a god as a form of punishment. Not sure that was a good idea. :(

The fact that people don’t always get your jokes, may be more on them than you, Uta. Sometimes, one simply needs a different audience.

Your good nature and good intentions come through clearly on the regular here. Miscommunications happen, but they happen to everyone, because speech and writing are imperfect.

If someone has a serious problem with something you say, I’m first inclined to think that the problem lies with them, or the day they’re having because, as before, your posting history shows, even when you’re speaking candidly, you’re typically speaking as someone voicing a personal opinion, rather than someone pointedly attempting to cause trouble for anyone else. This court finds Uta not guilty. Case dismissed! :-)

My mobile games, but less of them. A bit of Secret World.

A lot of RIFT Prime the last couple of days. I’m really trying to 100% a zone before moving on, so there’s some achievements and Iron Tomb to still do in Freemarch. Also ‘helps’ that my Level is still 18 so there’s some reason to stick around longer. On RIFT Live I even bothered to complete a Storm Legion puzzle, through help of walkthrough though. Yay, I can start getting rid of the items for them in my bags haha.

MUD stuff, Assassin’s Creed Unity, Vermintide 2, maybe Sea of Thieves, might take the plunge into RIFT Prime, doing Dark Brotherhood stuff on ESO (finally said screw it and decided to abandon trying to complete the vanilla content first), doing bare minimum for the week on XIV, and might try to hit 50 on a Burning Crusade private server.

Still Monhun till FFXIV’s new zone is added in. Pretty much done with most of it bar the tempered grind. Had a great time clearing all the arena content/getting the exclusive weapons and its a shame most folks new to the series dont even know it exists as it forces you to try new things and you leave it going ‘man i never knew i would enjoy X so much… time to farm a set!’ and thats the kind of incentive to progress for fun more games need.

Beyond that i picked up Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire which is Games Workshops attempt at an X Wing style ‘gateway game’ to get none tabletop players into games. Both the magic crowd and total tabletop beginners. Its a strange blend of malifaux and heroclix but really scaled down in scope. You get 3-7 figures with a deck of cards and a mat of hexagon covered ruins. Each game is 3 turns and its basically malifaux stat cards, heroclix movement and combat and yugioh trap card fuckery rolled into a warhammer themed box. The wierd thing is seeing card sellers like magic madhouse pick up what GW calls ‘expansions’ everyone else calls structure decks. I ended up picking up the starter box and Scaven deck/figure set because the models are gorgeous and its a nice way to play skaven like i always wanted without having to paint a hundred or two ratmen like WHF/AoS.

Its definitely something i could see older games getting their kids into. You open the box. snap the figures together in like 30 seconds each and if they like it you go “you know… we could paint these figures if you want” and the trap is sprung. Real fun game and while its no Mordheim -Malifaux and Frostgrave totally replaced that and GW seems to know that- its a great in the box board games with a CCG on top that i can recommend if you like the world of warhammer but dont want to take part in a huge tabletop game.

It’s good that they seem to be thinking about how to bring in new and/or younger gamers. They will help keep the hobby going.

Cheers,

They had to. A few years ago GW was going down the toilet because the higher ups had a ‘we are the only game in town’ mentality after they stopped being just that. They reaplced their CEO and some higher ups and its a very different GW nowadays. They had to be.

Black Desert online and maybe a bit more of TERA on PS4 … But I was very unimpressed with what I played last night.

Controls are clunky & the client is super unstable … No idea how they got PlayStation to give the game a green light; it is clearly not ready for mass consumption & even SkyForge PS4 plays better.

Do you think it’s something they can fix with patches? Bad controls which remain bad tend to be the “kiss of death” for console games.

Cheers, Xijit

It is just a bad port … You remember how it was when stuff like Quake 3 got ported to console and it was such a cut down mess? It feels like that.

Went to a rock show (Spoon, meh) last night and someone gave me drugs which I ate. Ended up being so high from one of those little gummy things I could not walk in World of Warcraft later that night. Like seriously, I couldn’t WASD at all. I could walk fine in real life but couldn’t on my keyboard. So probably won’t do that again anytime soon – dope isn’t really my scene.

I might get some more time for games today but my folks are in town so likely not too much. Maybe I’ll write some fan-fic about doing more drugs.

I hit 20 years of sobriety this week, and stories like that make me laugh and say “there is no damn way I’m ever going back to that.”

Congratulations, Sray!

I went to my first rehab many (many) years ago. If fact, I’ve been fortunate enough to have a family with the means to send me to Betty Ford/Hazelden in the States 6 (six!) times. Oh, the stories I could tell, and the people I’ve met (some of whom who are no longer with us).

More than 3 years for me (this time), so I reckon that’s a bonus. I should have been dead long ago. Sometimes it’s quite difficult to sit in front of a monitor when there are roses to smell. ;)

One of the pluses of being sober – watching people be goofy.

20 years nice! that’s an awful long time. My sis in law just hit 18 years. more than half her life.

Dude, never take anything a stranger hands you at a rock show. It’s just not worth it.

The WASD no-go story was hilarious though, so at least you got a good story out of all the weirdness!

It wasn’t a stranger it was a buddy :) I am always wary of eating drugs as they always get me too wacked out. It was pretty funny. I just thought, “Okay this is weird…” and laid in bed instead. Like I was a teen with no experience again kinda fun.

I just finished FF12, clocking in at 75hrs and I didn’t even touch most of the optional, sometimes secret but always challenging, dungeons and mob hunts. If I had done this before doing the final boss I’d have easily spent an additional 10-20hrs and probably could have killed the final boss like he’s an afterthought.

All in all a great game. My love for JRPG’s is rekindled since quite some time but dang, those are massive timesinks. Currently playing FFXV and 5 hrs in it feels like I barely touched the game. Compared to some other AAA titles where I finished the story in 8~15hrs… there’s just no comparison.
