The Daily Grind: Are there MMOs you really adore but simply can’t play consistently?

Zorp.

I adore Star Trek Online. I jumped into the game at launch and have long said, in public and in private, how great I think the game is on a whole. It’s good. And yet I find I can never really fully get into it on a consistent basis. I don’t have enough people around to play or roleplay with, I get drawn elsewhere, and at the end of the day I just lightly bounce of of the title until falling back into it with vigor a few months down the line.

It’s hardly the first game along those lines, and to some extent I realize this is perfectly normal. There are a lot of games people jump into, play for a little while, and then leave behind. But I think that in and of itself is interesting, especially when I contrast that against games that I can happily play for months on end. Even during my lowest pulses for Final Fantasy XIV, I’m still happy to log in and play. It’s a different sensation, in many ways.

So today, I pose the question to you, our readers. Are there MMOs you really adore but simply can’t play consistently? Are there old titles you love to visit but can’t stick around in for a long time? PvP titles that keep your excitement but wear away your good will? Titles with people you love but no mechanics to engage you? Let us know!

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
