I grew up on a farm.

It’s not exactly a surprise to me how many people are absolutely in love with Island Sanctuaries in Final Fantasy XIV; this was a highly anticipated feature before its release, and now that it has released it seems to be sparking just as much joy as people expected. So that’s excellent, because it is absolutely a fun form of content for people to enjoy without harsh time demands or stressful content. But is raising animals, crops, and setting up production chains what everyone wants to be doing for low-impact content in an MMO? (Disregarding the fact that the obvious answer is to point at the reception and say “clearly.”)

A lot of ink tends to get spilled over high-impact activities in MMOs, endgame progression mechanics, gear acquisition, and so forth. But people don’t talk as much about the slower, less demanding, and often downright relaxing content that’s in there for lower impact apart from the main thrust of the game. So what’s your favorite low-impact MMO content? What game does the best job of providing you something to do that’s not super stressful but is nevertheless enjoyable?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
