The Daily Grind: How long can you keep up a regular MMO weekly task?

She's gone.

Final Fantasy XIV does not have a shortage of weekly tasks to complete at any given interval, and there are several that remain regular weekly tasks from one patch to the next. You can get an upgrade item from an alliance raid once per week until the next patch, and then it becomes unlimited. And I usually keep that up for… a while. But not for the whole patch cycle because no, I do not actually have the tenacity to keep doing this on a weekly basis for 16 weeks. I make it through my main jobs and then usually give it a rest, honestly.

Some people, of course, think that making it 10 weeks sounds like it’s an incredible lift and will be lucky if they can get through half that. Others will happily insist that that’s a skill issue and say they can keep doing weekly tasks every week in an MMORPG for years on end, which is very impressive and we all think you’re very cool for it, as that was clearly the point here.

So how long can you keep up a regular MMO weekly task?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
