Heh, and I think Shroud’s website just back-filled Massivelyop’s news articles in their ‘in the news’ timeline…

Our little group finally took a dive in SoTA and it is quite impressive, even at this stage.  A good deal of complexity in crafting and character skill building, almost no bugs (though a long list of unfinished features yet to come posted).  We grouped up in Braemar, found a dungeon in a graveyard, and got a fair ways into it before the mob lvl got the best of us(don’t hit blobs with melee, they just tend to divide and double, use magic on them).  There is a vast amount of information at their website, though takes time to digest some as much of it is presented as long video conferences. They moved over to Unity 5 last month, and will spend the next 2 months polishing up and making use of the new capabilities in that engine – stuff like dyeing cloth etc. They are doing updates to the game the 3rd week of every month and the server has been running non-stop since last November, aside from the down time for each monthly update, not bad for ‘Pre-Alpha’.

I don’t know where Mr. Reahard got his info from, but as a backer it’s easy to see the actual stats on the website and I can tell you the title is pretty much wrong.

The 150K people are “britannians”, meaning people who subbed one way or the other to the web site. It does not mean they are all actual backers. In fact, most of them are just interested people sitting on the fence and following the development closely on the site and forums. Here are all the stats available so far:

New Britannians: 152,288                NOT necessarily backers!

Raised through KS: $1,919,275
Raised through SotA: $4,095,218
Total Raised: $6,014,493

Kickstarter Backers: 22,322
SotA Only Backers: 29,304
Total Backers: 51,626                   these are the backers

Unlinked KS Accounts: 4,232

Still, it is very impressive and the $6M USD figure seems to be correct, which is after taxes and KS expenses etc. much less but still a good base to build upon.

So far it’s fun to play despite sluggish movement and many UX shortcomings.
If they keep it up as they’ve done until now, this is gonna be one of the better MMOs!

The game is pretty decent so far and seems to be getting better and better with each patch.

Siphaed Which would be money well spent.  Except alas you know someone would insist on bringing him back.

And 500k will go to the game while 5.5million will help send Lord British to the moon.

SallyBowls1 McSleaz squidgod2000 There used to be pleanty. It seems that somewhat recently devs found that they can double dip and people will accept it so its shown up in more and more titles.

McSleaz squidgod2000 I can’t think of a game that does not have a cash shop.  If you are buying the box AND buying expansions AND paying a mandatory sub, then there still is a ca$h shop. So I just assume a MMO has a cash shop and am extremely surprised if I hear it does not.

150k backers! Dang. Not my cup O’ tea as I’m more into the PVP cames like CU but I hope its great for all of it’s supporters.

Does that include the pre-alpha, early access cash shop?

150k backers and many many more waiting to see how it turns out. I hope this game can deliver. I’d really love to play an updated version of an old school mmo without all the years of bad choices the actual old school ones have.

Though seriously, cool. I’ll have to check this out at some point.
