Holy crap, Space Engineers just added planets

Space Engineers has been all kinds of awesome for a while now. Today, Keen Software House made its sci-fi multiplayer sandbox even more awesome by adding planets. These aren’t just any planets, but rather “fully deformable, destructible, and persistent planets” that allow players to use their space ships to descend from their space bases to the surface as well as “discover distant planets, build their new home, face new enemies, and even challenge pirates in survival mode,” according to a Keen press release.
Space Engineers is entering its third year on Steam early access and has sold over 1.6 million copies. Check out the planetary update trailer after the cut!

Gylnne MJ Guthrie I’ve already owned this game for a very long time =D Finding good asteroids to mine has been my shiny!
I bought this a while back and gave up on it because it felt like too much work to play. Just building a simple digging machine seemed excessively difficult. Guess I’ll update it and give it another try soon. Hopefully it’s more streamlined at this point.
From the screenshot these planets sure look more interesting than the ones got added in Elite Dangerous lol
Holy cow. This is making me do a double-take with the game.
Jeff- ty for this news!!! Sweeet!
Well I know what I’ll be playing this weekend when I want a change of pace from FO4!!!!
This is the game that my friends and I bought at the same time saying, “Oh man we’re totally going to play this together,” but we got distracted playing other games instead. Someday though. We’ll play it. Haha.
jefreahard DansaiGedden Ok, those are the magic words. Optional pvp. Gonna check it out over the weekend.

These guys are clearly putting the work in – I hope that its as good as it looks and that, if it is, they get some decent money out of it.
