Fractured preps for Kickstarter campaign and releases its main theme

Fantasy MMORPG Fractured is working hard to prepare for its future Kickstarter campaign — and it needs your help with the planning. The team laid out a list of potential pledge tiers this week for community evaluation and feedback.

These pledge packs cover a wide range of potential rewards, such as forum titles, digital copies of the game, beta access, in-game currency, premium membership, character slots, the soundtrack, pets, cosmetic skins, statues of you, the ability to be a “development advisor,” and a mule. Probably shouldn’t have put the mule last. Not really the most exciting of selling points, unless you are a mule enthusiast. If you are, please do not let us know.

The studio also released the game’s main theme on Soundcloud, which might get you stirred up to support the upcoming campaign. “Among the myriad of pieces that make up an MMO, we believe that the soundtrack often doesn’t receive due attention,” the studio said. “The creator of this wonderful record is the German composer Armin Haas, who is going to keep working on other tracks for the Fractured OST in the months to come.” Give it a listen after the break!

Battle Bards Episode 114: Vroom vroom!

Yes officer, these Battle Bards were well above the speed limit and violated many noise complaints in the local neighborhoods. But it was for a good cause, sir! This music from vehicular MMOs is just way too good to keep quiet! What’s that? You’ll let them go with just a warning? You only know they’re going to peel out and look for another score to settle!

Elder Scrolls Online breaks out its fourth soundtrack album

Soundtrack lovers, here’s a pleasant surprise for the end of the week: A brand-new album from Composer Brad Derrick and Elder Scrolls Online.

Derrick continues his reign over the game’s score, delivering a 36-track album that includes music from the Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and Clockwork City DLC. You can pick it up at iTunes, Google Play, or Amazon for $9.

The Elder Scrolls Online soundtrack was one of Massively OP reader’s top 20 picks a while back. We reviewed the Morrowind expansion score not too long ago, calling it “a much more memorable and moving soundtrack with plenty of nostalgic elements.”

Battle Bards Episode 112: MMO minigame music

It’s time to take a diversion to play — and listen — to the minigames tucked inside of our MMOs! The Battle Bards haul out their last show of 2012 with an eclectic and fun assortment of minigame soundtracks. While minigame-specific music might be hard to hunt down, this trio did their best and are reasonably satisfied with the result. Which is good, because no refunds on this podcast!

A year of Battle Bards and awesome MMO music

If you are not familiar with Battle Bards, it’s an MMORPG video game music podcast that was co-created by Massively OP’s Justin Olivetti back in 2013. For years now, the Battle Bards team of three have gathered together to tackle favorite and noteworthy pieces of online game music in a spirited back-and-forth manner.

This year was no different, and over the past 12 months Battle Bards has put out about two dozen shows that will forever live on (in infamy). While creating and mixing these shows take a long time, they’re worth the effort to produce, since VGM is “evergreen” and doesn’t become obsolete.

With that in mind, we thought that you might like a list of all of the episodes that the team produced this year for your listening enjoyment over the holiday break. Which was your favorite? What topics and game soundtracks would you like the Battle Bards to tackle in 2018? Let them know in the comments!
