The Daily Grind: Who’s your oldest MMO character who still gets played?

Light it up.

My original two characters in World of Warcraft are no longer around; one of them was deleted and the other is never to be played again. I am, however, still playing the same character in Final Fantasy XI whom I played back when the game launched, and my main in Final Fantasy XIV is the same character I created when the first version of the game went live. My Star Wars: The Old Republic mains haven’t changed since the game launched, nor has my Star Trek Online captain of choice. I tend to know what I want and stick with it, in short.

Of course, that’s not to say that failing to do so is wrong or worse, just different. Maybe you’re still tooling around on your first character from the launch of Ultima Online, or maybe you delete a character every six months, need it or not. So who’s your oldest MMO character who still gets played? Not the first one who ever existed, necessarily, but then one approaching an august age but still growing and developing?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

Still play my release day human rogue in WoW, although it was demoted from being to main to alt status in about 2008. Ironically last thing I did on that character was run Molten Core, working on that last few thousand rep for Exalted with Hydraxian Waterlords.

The only MMORPG I played before that was Horizons, which I left behind in 2004 with all the regret of someone scraping dog crap off their shoe.

I could say my (Puzzle) Pirates, my very first game ever, but considering that I only log in there maybe twice a year these days…

Or I could say Miss Megajoule, my force fields/energy blast defender, but…  :(

Actually played, probably my STO ‘main’ captain (Fed, human engineer).  With my TOR Trooper and Imperial Agent not far behind.

ManastuUtakata Vexia Gnome hunters made a hell of a lot more sense than Gnome warriors. FEAR THE TINY PINK BALL OF DEATH. No.

My……Runescape character. I don’t play often, but I like checking in once a year or so to see how the game is doing.

There will be Gnome Hunters coming Legion! You and will rejoice! While the rest of the naysayers will be bowing at out iron pigtailed presence and a multitude of pink themed combat pets. <3

Lord Zorvan Vexia zyrusticae Yup, ya got it. Phantasy Star Online 2, to be exact.
Wish more games gave me the option to have this much definition. I can count all of them on one hand to this day. Hopefully that changes in the future.

Vexia Lord Zorvan zyrusticae Ah, okay. I only ever played the Dreamcast Phantasy Star Online so I didn’t recognize it.

Lord Zorvan zyrusticae Looks like one of the Phantasy Star ones. Those games, from what I’ve seen, have female character muscle sliders that put all others to shame!

ManastuUtakata Vexia Haha! I’m glad you like. I’m a huge fan of bright hair colors. Back during BC, the Horde didn’t really have any options for tiny, cute characters although I always liked Trolls’ rainbow of hair color options. If only there had been Gnome hunters from the start, maybe my WoW life would have been a lot different.
